How to request a translation quote

The information that helps Odette assess your documents, timing and language needs.

Describe the assignment in one sentence

Name the document or content type and its purpose: for example, a birth certificate for a university application, an English report for Arabic-speaking readers, or a French website being adapted for an English-speaking audience. State both languages; “translate my documents” leaves important choices unresolved.

Give a realistic picture of the material

Mention the number of pages or approximate word count and the file format. A clear editable document and a scanned handwritten record involve different work. Include whether stamps, tables, images or existing translations need attention. At the first contact, describe sensitive material without including personal identity numbers or unnecessary private details; agree a suitable way to share it.

Separate your deadline from your appointment

State the date you need the completed translation, not only the application or meeting date. Allow for your own review and any delivery, certification or legalization steps required by the recipient. Availability, turnaround and price are confirmed for the specific assignment; they are not assumed from the number of pages alone.

Ask what the quote covers

Confirm the language pair, deliverable format, certification if applicable, number of copies, revision scope and collection or delivery arrangements. Explain whether you need translation, editing of a translation, or localization in a website layout. If an institution gave you written requirements, provide them before work begins.
